I've been struggling with whether or not to call the "distributed objects" in #Spritely Goblins "objects" or "actors" at various points (unlike actors, you *can* do immediate calls if in the same vat). Suddenly realized: why not just call them "goblins"?

@dthompson No other way to do it on a posix system, correct.

However, that's one of the big complaints in the Unix Hater's Handbook; plenty of other operating systems had filetype metadata in the file object structure itself.

@wobblysaeeda I did try doing this as an adolescent, was delighted when I saw the icon change, but was subsequently confused why it didn't behave differently

I have been figuring out how to make "just add hot water" vegetarian meals. I have quite a few recipes!

@dthompson @joeyh @wobblysaeeda Actually I bet this can be combined with the dehydrated MRE type food things I've been doing. If you pack individual meals into the tiny mason jars, then add water into them right before running the dishwasher and put them in the dishwasher, I bet it will cook them pretty well
