I'm interested in hearing from #ActivityPub developers who've successfully mapped #OpenGraph properties from <meta> tags in Web pages onto the `Page` type and its properties in AS2.
@aharoni my first guess was about Zamenhof, who I think was a contemporary and vaguely a rival of Herzl? He had his whole homaranismo thing.
Looking it up, I guess he proposed a home for the Jewish people in Mississippi, which is a scenario that would make a good sequel to "The Yiddish Policeman's Union"
@joelving there are dozens of AP implementations. Clearly, it's not impossible to implement. It can and should and will be easier. That's no argument for undermining this network. The premise is flawed and the conclusion does not follow.
@joelving we have a good primer on the W3C wiki. I am writing a book for O'Reilly. There are good materials on the web. Developing for other standards does everyone harm. Anyone who is stuck is welcome to ask me personally. If your only choice is developing for another standard or doing nothing, do nothing.
@clacke@steve yes, we usually do voice calls, and someone takes minutes on IRC. That's also where back channel happens, so there are a lot of tangents in the minutes.
The book will be a developer guide that will help programmers connect existing software to the social web, as well as making brand new social applications. Currently, developers depend on reading the specifications themselves, forum posts, wiki pages, blog posts, and other content spread across the Web. I hope that a single book with practical step-by-step information will make learning about and building with ActivityPub easier.
