@dwaltiz I think @louis may have gotten two-way #XMPP working now. Is that correct, Louis? You can both read and post notices from your XMPP client now?
@dewoo@pleroma.soykaf.com I don’t think @louis has incoming posts working correctly in #XMPP yet. It may mean that he’s got one post clogging that queue (meaning that post should be deleted, and then all subsequent posts will flow in one crazy stream until it catches up).
@1iceloops123 That means your account was lost when the hoster stopped paying for the DC where SPC used to be hosted. @moonman will have to re-create your #XMPP account.
– about 50% of these servers are hosted by only 7 companies in 3 countries – logical decentralization obviously doesn't imply physical decentralization – more than 50% of servers are hosted in Germany, followed by the USA (10%) and France (7%)
@bob @maiyannah #Mozilla had a rudimentary chat client (I think it did #IRC and #XMPP) embedded in #Thunderbird, but it was garbage, so no one used it.
Good morning. I’ve already had my daily #YoCo ( #yogurt / #yoghurt and #coffee ), navigated around a online forum conflict, had a couple of personal conversations over #Wire and #XMPP, been greeted by an excited three year old (sister’s granddaughter), and tuned in to @sir’s coding stream. #TZAG
@tigase Mostly whatever their contacts use. I chose #Prosody because people I knew were using it. When I spun up an #XMPP sever at work years ago, I ran Jive ( now #OpenFire ) because they also made Spark, the client we used. (Sadly, the test was successful, and $EMPLOYER chose to go with Lync / Skype.)
@tigase You misunderstood my post from December. One individual asked another individual which !XMPP server software the second person had used. I responded with the names of the two that I usually see in the “single user or small group” context. No one was “recommending” software, nor was anyone seeking recommendations. In that context, mentioning #Tigase #XMPP server would have been the wrong thing to do.
@tigase I have seen the site for the #Tigase #XMPP server project over the years, always with an emphasis on giant deployments. I am aware of the public server ( sure.im and other names ), and I am aware of the Tigase client software for #Android. I am not unaware of your project. But if the project is now looking to expand into small scale use, I’m glad to hear it.
♲ @Goffi@mastodon.social: Will be at FOSDEM in about 1h, if anybody is willing to talk about #XMPP #decentralization #python or the ethics behind #salutatoi , ping me here, on sat@chat.jabberfr.org MUC room (chat.jabberfr.org/converse.js/…) or meet me (maybe) at XMPP lounge.
“Please update to Conversations 2.1.4 ASAP. Available on both Google Play and F-Droid. This fixes our first critical security issue. More details will follow after the majority of people have upgraded. Conversations Legacy and Conversations prior to 2.0 are not affected.”
