@cwebber Have there been an MediaGoblin awards? Like, best Album hosted on MediaGoblin? Best documentary hosted on MediaGoblin? It might be interesting for the #CCMA to learn from anything like that.
-
@craigmaloney probably not a #CCMA contender, but has some interesting indie pop type melodies interspersed with some heavy as fuck stuff. At the very least, might be good for the "something a little different" closing track...but I think it's heavy enough to fit in a show on it's own: https://eem-kills.bandcamp.com/

Again bummed there is no #CCMA punk category: https://disordine.bandcamp.com/ !ccmusic

It seems like something I could use in my other projects, but that means significant time away from those projects. Music Manumit is booked for a while, and I don't know that there's anything pressing for blocSonic. #CCMA is the real bottleneck. Thanks for the feedback. We'll see what others say.
also, the comment about the fediverse is just because it's so hard to get people to use the same thing. Some people are on facebook, some on slack, some on GNU Social, some on twitter. I don't have time to go everywhere.

I have too much to do as it is, but it's too bad we don't have a punk category for #CCMA: https://krocodilla.bandcamp.com/

I guess ultimately it would be very beneficial to go, but we'd have to find someone to take care of the cats. I'd have to book flights. I have enough stress as it is.
The one thing to go against that is if I can meet people there to help out with #CCMA stuff. I guess I should talk to Mike about it.

I've been pretty bummed out the last couple of days, but I found new #CCMA opportunities.
-
It'd be great if I could get someone to take over the day-to-day operations of the #CCMA, so that I can work on organizational structure, but I don't think it's going to happen.

I haven't used slack very much, but it seems I can make a generic invite link. I don't know if it's reusable, but never expires: https://nu.federati.net/url/115885 #ccma

What groups are trying to bring the world together? I don't have the language skills to go through https://wiki.creativecommons.org/wiki/Category:CC_Affiliate_Locale & let everybody know about the Creative Commons Music Awards, but I could certainly contact the English-speaking countries.
I'd like to get this done by April 30, but the sooner the better as the nominee deadline is April 30. I really don't want the awards to be English-centric, but so far everyone involved is white. We do have prominent female participation, but despite the fact my wife is of Asian descent my music network is almost entirely white. Despite many efforts I haven't been able to get many #Asians or #Africans on #MusicManumit. We've stopped doing Music Manumit at a time that works for Africans, Europeans, or those in the #MiddleEast, so the #CCMA is my way to try to bring people together.
Part of the problem is we are trying to stay away from blocSonic musicians so they can be nominated and not have conflicts being judges.
I ran out of char. You can read the full post @ https://loadaverage.org/conversation/10109030#notice-12077408

Looking for someone to be a #pop judge for the #CCMA. Any takers? !ccmsc
-
Looks like I need a new hip hop judge for the #CCMA. Who is in?

What do people think of there being a #LGBT category in the #CCMA? I'm not so much thinking LGBT musicians, but music about LGBT issues...just like with the Christian category. You can be #Christian and not sing about overtly Christian issues. Also, as some !metal bands have shown, you can sing Christian lyrics and not be Christian. Would anyone be willing to judge?
-
I'm thinking of recreating a portion of the Dove awards in the #CCMA. Would anyone be interested in contributing? It's a little late for this year, but you could certainly try. Next year for sure this is something I'd like to do.

now
https://nu.federati.net/musicman/ https://loadaverage.org/dawsports
https://twitter.com/dawsports
https://datamost.com/dw
should all say the same thing, as long as the original source is not twitter.
It's hard to say how much more sports coverage this means as I'm pretty wrapped up with the #ccma. The #PSG post is a RP from loadaverage. There will no doubt be some of those, but I don't check loadaverage that often. This is all for @kevie, but I don't know if @s will go through on NavStokes. I think Kevie can see mine, just not the other way around, so I guess he can just @dawsports as necessary

worth checking out for #ccma: https://rosiebans.bandcamp.com/album/identify-yourself

It dawned on me that there are less than three months left until the #ccma deadline, so I am cutting out anything with the electronic tag too. I'm still going to get synth stuff and of course people using not-so-generic tags. I really need to stick to what I know at this point. Interestingly, I've got some avant-garde that isn't listed as experimental. We'll see how that goes. I'd miss https://santamartagolden.bandcamp.com/album/resilience-2 with the #electronic tag, but if SMG comes out with something before March 31, I'm going to listen to it anyway. :)

Seems to be fixed. I guess while I'm on this server I might as well look at the slack/irc bridge for #ccma

@craigmaloney NEF was the name of FCM before we decided to change. I don't think there's any hosting associated with it but the thought was we could redirect if we brought back fcm or thought it was useful. Essentially, the work I was trying to do through NEF, like #ccma, I now do through blocSonic. The answer is almost certainly no, there's no reason to keep it around, but thought I'd throw it out there.

So, here's the thing. It takes me about two hours to bike to work and change in the winter. Less so in the summer, and even less in the spring and fall, but that is time I could put back into the #FLOSS community. The truth is though that time will go to blocSonic, which isn't necessarily bad. I'm able to do things like #ccma and maybe some !freeculture stuff will come out of it. I could potentially use that time to bring back #MusicManumitExtra and I could have on more #freesoftware devs in the audio space. That's something that might actually happen. Perforce is just a few of blocks away. I'd be getting almost all of that time back. However, then I'd need to workout separately, but I could maybe start playing soccer again, or go for longer cycling errand rides on the weekend.
I never felt comfortable working for a wholly proprietary software company (www.epic.com), even if we used a lot of FLOSS internally.
One thing I don't know is how much it would pay. Perhaps the recruiter will get back with me about a range tomorrow.
