Juan Carlos Muñoz (astro_jcm@mastodon.online)'s status on Sunday, 10-Dec-2023 15:02:10 UTC Juan Carlos Muñoz Given its latitude, from ESO's Paranal Observatory in #Chile you can see the core of the #MilkyWay passing directly overhead. In this pic I took a few years ago you can see its faint glow reflected off the dome of one of our 8 m telescopes.
My neck wasn't happy when framing this shot, though, as my camera doesn't have a flip screen! 😅

Craig Kolb (cek@mastodon.gamedev.place)'s status on Saturday, 26-Aug-2023 17:17:47 UTC Craig Kolb Quick processing of a first attempt at a nebula using the EdgeHD 800. Here's 111x2 minute exposures worth of North America nebula, using a one-shot color camera. Some dust that won't flat out is evident, and it needs some more careful processing, but overall I'm pretty happy with the data-capture capabilities of the rig.
I usually prefer "naturally" colored galaxies to hyper-saturated narrowband images of nebulae. But I can see the appeal on targets like this.

But there is something uniquely special about this image, that made it one of my most difficult shots ever. So, what is it? #astrophotography #space #opteam https://twitter.com/AJamesMcCarthy/status/1385999613501476870/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/71787 In conversation from NavierStokesApp permalink Attachments

This is an image I captured 10 minutes ago from my backyard. #astrophotography #space #opteam https://twitter.com/AJamesMcCarthy/status/1333114113979949056/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/69413 In conversation from NavierStokesApp permalink Attachments

Take a look at how much stark beauty exists on this rock we tend to take for granted. #astrophotography #space #opteam https://twitter.com/AJamesMcCarthy/status/1330234960255528963/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/69311 In conversation from NavierStokesApp permalink Attachments

By getting creative with blending in overexposed frames, I gave it a bit of depth. Mars will be closest to Earth next month. #opteam #space #astrophotography https://twitter.com/AJamesMcCarthy/status/1302303130055446528/photo/1 https://chirp.cooleysekula.net/attachment/67324 In conversation from NavierStokesApp permalink Attachments
