@fuchsiashock When you go back in time, you already know the path time will take between the infinite possibilities. So it doesn't seem strange to me that any change in the past would deviate from that unique path that may not be the ideal one for us, but it is what it is.
On the contrary, in the present, we are able to imagine an ideal future which more often than not requires sweeping changes to the structure of society and would, indeed, require an Herculean amount of work to bring about.
Basically we can imagine little acts in the past making massive differences in a mediocre timeline (but it's ours so there's a sentimental attachment). And we think the greatest effort we can put in at our individual level will not make any difference towards the ideal future we can conceive because it's so far out of reach.
