   I finally had a chance to figure out why my social bridging software was no longer able to talk to Twitter. Indeed, it's because under Twitter's new leadership, python-twitter has been deemed as violating something in their terms of service. It says I can submit a ticket, but they make it impossible to figure out how to do that (the service portal is a loop). So I am deciding to no longer support Twitter and will focus entirely on federated social media.

     Several other authors of software that accesses the Twitter API have come to that conclusion as well. When #Twidere, my phone app to access Twitter stopped accessing Twitter back in January I pretty much abandoned Twitter. I still check Twitter with its WebUI, less than once a week, but I no longer post or engage there.
     
     But Twitter still gets used by some organizations I do work for, so I do post from their accounts. I wonder how long it will be before they abandon Twitter too.

    Some words from a biography of Werner Heisenberg that are just as relevant today as they were in 1933. From "Beyond Uncertainty" by David C. Cassidy. Inoculation against demagoguery is, after all other guardrails have failed, one of the last checks against the total destruction of a democratic state by a singular individual.     How it started, how it's going: home office edition. We bought a new construction home, pretty much a blank slate.     Hmm. Looks like Twitter API authentication isn't working for the Python twitter library. I assume this means Twitter has finally shut down its open API? Don't have time to investigate this until the weekend. For now, NavierStokes won't be bridging messages between Twitter and other open social media services. Could be a fluke ... but given the behavior of leadership at Twitter, I am erring more on the side of this being some new money-making bulls**t.

    It has been "hot" in # Sudbury for the past few days. This means temperatures around 85F (about 30C). Having moved from Texas, I find this charming. 🙂 I had a great run on Sunday in the "heat". I regret nothing. I thought it particularly funny when a guy called out from a pickup truck, "Sure is a hot one buddy!" I wasn't even running with water. 85F was an early spring day in Dallas. Here, 85F is somehow the end of the world. I have truly missed a northern climate.
