@hikerus @windigo People should learn what censorship means and how it is different from admins deleting inappropriate or hateful postings.
- @mcscx@quitter.se likes this.

@windigo I've been expecting one. It should exist.

@simsa01 Censorship is the suppression of free speech or the access to information. To stick with the current affair: people spilling stuff into a gnusocial node and the admin deleting it does in no way harm their right of free speech. They can go anywhere else and keep on doing, as well as people wanting to read these sayings. Nobody will stop them from setting up their own node which is different to e.g. a publishing ban for journalists by a government.
Oh, and btw: if someone says "gnusocial" censors he furthermore didn't even understand the principles of a federated network. It's like screaming "someone censors my emails - while I'm writing them!".

@simsa01 Yes, if you let free speech depend on techniques then there's abilities you need. If you want to write a newspaper, you will need to know how to write and how to print. Or you will need someone to do it for you. (See the analogy?)

@simsa01 Yes, and so does the ability to write. As said befor.
-
@windigo And the fact that "inappropriate" is often not accurately stated, used with logic, or not abused is a fact.

@windigo #NoteToSelf: Proofread your dents, Johnny you fool.

@x1101 @windigo That would be a valid criticism, but I really don't come across that.

@x1101 @windigo I stand by what I say. Meanwhile the hugbox crowd just want an insular world.
