     looks like it is not required. I just removed mine…and now I will add it back because I like the email notifications. :)

     @daw @cmhobbs  When Evan upgraded to pump.io and reset all the passwords it was a problem that some people hadn't registered mail addresses.

     I think my point is that it should be optional even if it causes problems. It also shouldn't be required for identification.

     @cmhobbs Absolutely agree. I just meant that this shows in a concrete way that GNU Social does not, in fact, require a valid mail address.
