Does anyone know of a FLOSS Slack client for Android? I'm forced to use Slack for various reasons, but I'm not going to install a proprietary client. I'm currently using it over XMPP, but that's a bit poorly supported.

@sazius The thing with Slack is that it's a spotified IRC client, no?
-
@mmn It's a bit like IRC, but fancier (you can post images etc), and with nicer mobile apps. And proprietary.
-
@sazius Please let me know if something surfaces.
-
@zash @pettter I know! I'm currently using it with Xabber (over XMPP), but it's missing some features of the proprietary Slack client. Like image uploads, showing history etc.
-
@sazius I can post images on irc too :P
-
@zash Yeah, no idea if Slack supports image uploads from Conversations. Their XMPP bridge isn't particularly good as an XMPP server. But currently I can't use Conversations with Slack due to this problem: https://github.com/siacs/Conversations/issues/1475

@zash @sazius #Conversations image upload (which is not Jingle) requires the "HTTP Upload" Component support - which I assume Slack's crap !XMPP gateway won't support. And if it does, it probably costs extra.

@mmn @zash You're probably right. Their XMPP gateway is pretty poor :-/
