@lnxw48 "There are some monolinguals that feel discomfort in the presence of a lot of foreign-language posts." But once they start talking they won't be a minority. :) Just START! The simple fact that the group started in English doesn't mean or imply it's all English. En ik kan net zo goed Nederlands praten (hoewel dat bij identi.ca meer effect had). Language doesn't matter. *Just start talking.* !fediverse !fediverso

@dragnucs not much, except it would prevent you from being subscribed to both - even more counter-productive!
-
@lnxw48 in fact, I think no one has even started DESIGNING yet what 'federation' should be and how it should be implemented. Coding is entirely premature.
-
@lnxw48 I vaguely remember the name #gnewbook... was that (in) the domain name? coudl something be recovered from the Wayback Machine?
-
@lnxw48 well, it seems to have been gnewbook.org. And I also found this: http://www.programmableweb.com/api/gnewbook - and this: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://gnewbook.org

@chimo more than that :) see my previous dent

@david "la esencia de la red distribuida es la mezcla" exactly. ALL languages and conversatiuons are welcome in !fediverse. That's what it exists for. exactamente. Todos los idiomas y conversatiuons son welc
-
@mk ...Todos los idiomas y conversaciones son bienvenidos en !fediverse. Existe para que.
-
@lnxw48 yes, and some entries seem to redirect while others don't. I don't know exactly what's going on there. But I've bookmarked it for investigation.
-
@lnxw48 "Yes, I am going to become fully multilingual. I just have not done it yet." Do it! :)
-
@roland. Ick. Contradictio in terminis.

@hgfernan no, sadly federation of groups is only partially implemented. Like I said before, #federation has not even been really *designed*, There are a few hacks that partially work, that is all. The first priority should be proper DESIGN of federation. !fediverse !fediverso

@roland why only English or German? I'll occasionally use French or Spanish as well. And why not Dutch? Talk to me in German and I may answer in English or German. Talk to me in Spanish and I may answer in Spanish, French or English. And so on. Yes we have some "German" groups. But mostly they just *started* in German. !novatos may have started in Spanish but there's no reason at all why people should not ask questions there in German or English (yes, I am a member). !fediverse !fediverso
-
@roland as far as I know we do not have any single-language groups. Only groups that happened to start out in one language, none that *exclude* other languages. And that's how it should be. !fediverse !frediverso

@hgfernan since it mentions "GNUCHILE", yes, that seems to be it! Good find, bookmarked too!
-
@hgfernan that page also mentions that it's based on Elgg - interesting.
-
@lnxw48 so it seems it's not quite dead yet :)

@mk Zullen wij een !nl groep opzetten? Ik geloof dat er wel meer Nederlanders in de !Fediverse zijn.
