   And Boston perhaps deserves its bad rap, but also perhaps not to the extent that it’s been portrayed

     If I reached out to a Boston magazine to pitch a story that Boston is the most racist city, they wouldn't print it. But if I reached out to write a story that Boston isn't the most racist city, I could get that printed.🤷🏿♂️

     Ask the other Black Boston residents. I went to high school in Massachusetts. Mass had more "Sundown towns" than most places. Town kids in Boston would run around trying to beat up Puerto Rican, Black, and Vietnamese kids. It's super racist.

     @mekkaokereke @fivetonsflax I agree that there’s racism in the northern states, but I don’t agree there’s *as much* racism in the north compared to the south

     I’m basing that on my own personal experience, of course. The most racism I’ve seen personally is around the Detroit area and those suburbs/exurbs, but Georgia feels much different (though I haven’t spent much time there)

     @mekkaokereke @fivetonsflax I have seen it first-hand in Boston. I’m not trying to defend Boston at all

     I’m just wondering how it compares to where I grew up — Louisville, KY. I would guess Louisville is just as racist or more so than Boston. Just my $0.02

     @unlambda @peterbutler @fivetonsflax @mekkaokereke oh I know! We were out in the 495 loop. My son & his best friend were big wrestling fans. One Halloween, they were their fav wrestlers. My son was the Hurricane, & his friend showed up as Booker T in full blackface!

     My kids were mortified & had to explain why he had to wash it off & how he could be his fav wrestler without black face.

     Kid went on to be a military chaplian. Idk I think it may have been good that he was friends with my son.

     I love Vermont, but I do sometimes find it creepy how white it is.

     @peterbutler @fivetonsflax @mekkaokereke what's crazy is that when I moved there from north Florida I was shocked that there weren't black people around. I kept thinking where is everyone?
