     @ajroach42 A bit of Kirk's backstory and then Earth gets attacked by a space drill? Also they used time travel to genocide Vulcans. Maybe that was two different movies?
     
     I liked the scene in the second (?) movie where they called Beastie Boys classical music.

     It's all the same basic Space Cadet story. I assume all the way back to Heinlein's Space Cadet.

     @hhardy01 It's the rough plot of the series as a whole.

     Cadets in academy get rushed out of academy and forced to pilot ships in emergency situations.

     Buzz Corey, commander and chief of the Space Patrol and Captain Kirk of the Star Ship Enterprise shared the screen in an episode of The Twilight zone set between the end of Space Patrol and the start of Star Trek.

     NOT Star Trek TMP (1979).
     He's talking about Star Trek (2009).

     "The Abramination" as I prefer to call it.

     Seriously, it wouldn't actually be a terrible movie if it just weren't claiming to be part of Star Trek, IMHO. It reads like SNL parody of Star Trek, not like the real thing.
