OP said never cook rice again, just eat ... microwave rice? Ugh. Didn't know that was a thing, but sounds awful. But that's not what I had to look up.
Another person said have someone else clean the skirting boards, which is apparently the wall panel at the steps of your stairs. I wonder what they are doing with those. -

Because most of the walls are drywall and the floors often laminate, that is a convenient way to make the join and cover any gaps. But the do tend to collect dust so you have to clean them every now and then to avoid mould. If I was rich I'd have a house designed without them :-)

I never figured them much different from the floor-level panels on the normal walls and I have those.
