   I love it when someone describes some kind of household chore as absolutely essential and I have to look up the words to know what the heck they're talking about.

     @wim_v12e Someone started a thread about what they would allow themself if they were rich.
     
     OP said never cook rice again, just eat ... microwave rice? Ugh. Didn't know that was a thing, but sounds awful. But that's not what I had to look up.
     
     Another person said have someone else clean the skirting boards, which is apparently the wall panel at the steps of your stairs. I wonder what they are doing with those.

     @clacke In UK houses, skirting boards are low wooden planks at the joint of the wall and the floor. Because most of the walls are drywall and the floors often laminate, that is a convenient way to make the join and cover any gaps. But the do tend to collect dust so you have to clean them every now and then to avoid mould. If I was rich I'd have a house designed without them :-)

     @wim_v12e My parents have stairs and the stairs have skirting boards but like ... just vacuum them when you vacuum the stairs? I never figured them much different from the floor-level panels on the normal walls and I have those.
