@fribbledom Every negative thing that every other post is saying.
In the positive, as a potential outcome, more peer to peer communication and publishing. It's possible some good and some less good will come out of web3 - kind of like anything else, ever, always.
"Blockchain is always bad" advocates might be in the right. I suggest they look at Secure Scuttlebutt, particularly Manyverse, and then reconsider. They may still be in the right.
@phoe@fribbledom Hey, hey, don't lump Web 3.0 in with Web3; Web 3.0, or the Semantic Web, was never going to work, but at least it wasn't a cynical scam.
@punkscience@fribbledom If you look at Twitter's Bluesky project you'll get where people are coming from:
- What if Twitter ... but decentralized! - The Fediverse is only two years younger than Twitter. - Yeah, but what if ... you could have community moderation. - Fediverse did it. - It's not decentralized! - It's not centralized. I can run my own server. - But there's no blockchain!
@fribbledom The cynicism on here is ... ick. Web3 as I understand it, is the rebuilding of web technologies on decentralized services using crypto technologies, blockchain, and distributed systems.
