With my sysadmin hat on: I don't care what people end up calling a time zone, but I will lend my pitchfork to any group that advocates abolishing changing the clocks twice a year.

Deborah Pickett (futzle@aus.social)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Mar-2022 04:17:14 UTC Deborah Pickett @duncanhart Well not itβs not but NTP happens only in UTC so unless I want to import tzdata and keep it updated to reflect the whims of $jurisdiction then it doesnβt prevent the need for pitchforks.

David de Groot π (dadegroot@mastodon.social)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Mar-2022 05:01:44 UTC David de Groot π @clacke @futzle There's still an active movement in South East Queensland, mostly fuelled by people who have migrated from NSW and Victoria, who want "more daylight after work".
My argument has always been those people need to negotiate different hours with their employers.Santa Claes πΈπͺππ°π likes this. -

Closer to midsummer they'll have more evening light than they'll care to make use of either way. -

Sounds like a townie thing, or at least people who don't have to do anything outside. Us country folk have to put up doing our morning chores in darkness - already. (Sun doesn't rise until an hour after I get up, and it's only March.)

Deborah Pickett (futzle@aus.social)'s status on Wednesday, 16-Mar-2022 12:54:54 UTC Deborah Pickett Ideally, one of them at UTC+2 and the other at UTC+1:30, each with different daylight saving transition dates. Imagine the cacophony of the town hall clocks! (Though of course youβd only hear your one, donβt want to invite Breach do we?)
