I guess you could imagine a managed server hardware product, but then you have a higher barrier to entry (more expensive).
I think we need more stuff like geocities and Tumblr and myspace.

But they are the people that enjoy the process, tinkering with the metaphorical engine. They're generally not in it to just make a website.

valhalla (valhalla@social.gl-como.it)'s status on Friday, 04-Mar-2022 10:20:39 UTC valhalla @astraluma @SuricrasiaOnline There are projects like the freedombox that aren't managed (as in: there isn't a person to call if something goes wrong), but try to make it as easy as possible to host things, and they run on pretty cheap hardware.
Freedombox is also available pre-installed, and while not extremely cheap it's in a range that is reasonably so for a middle-class (lol) household in the rich part of the world.
