Even if it takes 2 years for Paris to have the center of its city fully banning cars, I still appreciate that they didn't go back on their words like they usually do. France tends to play it safe and wait years for all of Europe to adopt one thing before they start considering it. (that's why I don't think we'll have things like stores opened on sundays or 4 days work week anytime soon)
I'm hoping it also convinces more cities to follow that example. I may have a car, but I still believe their primary purpose should be to travel from a city to another, not travel *inside* a city

@vaartis @solidsanek There are 16 metro lines for distances longer than what is suitable for tram. To go even faster and longer there are 5 RER (commuter/metro hybrid) train lines and 8 Transilien (commuter) train lines.

@solidsanek isn't paris just absurdly big

@vaartis @solidsanek That's just part of the authentic French experience.

@clacke @solidsanek what about the times when they're all on strike, that tends to happen once in a while in france 🙃

@vaartis Counting the surrounding municipalities often associated with Paris, it is yeah!
First pic is apparently the area that'll fully ban cars. Only taxies, buses and companies would be allowed to use vehicles there.
Second pic, however, displays all of the areas from Paris and surrounding Paris that will only allow cars not emitting too much pollution to travel there. Brussels does this already for example, and it's been working well for them so far from what I've seen.
While I'm all for a car ban, I've heard that many citizens have been complaining about it already. So I hope that at the very least what's on the second pic will be adopted
