   Getting pissed off even more by otherwise decent people; latest fallacy is confusing scientists and science.

   Just because a scientist says something, doesn't mean it's science.

   Just because a scientist argues something, doesn't mean it adheres to the scientific method.

     Reminds me of the story surrounding Germ Theory where popular belief (miasma theory) was around for a long time and egos where involved.

     Of course some scientists are egotistical assholes who just want media attention, money or whatever–just like in any other profession. (Get this: they're human beings!).

     Thusly science is specifically designed to eliminate the need to listen to random opinions (from assholes or not).

     The scientific method is directly designed (and logically reasoned) to remove ego and human fee-fees from discovering the truth.

     Inviting a talking head to your podcast isn't criticizing scientific research.

     Using the scientific method to postulate and prove or disprove hypothesis is criticizing scientific research.

     @edclayand @thomasfuchs My senior high school physics teacher who before teaching had worked in the nuclear physics lab at Uppsala university had this to say about the nuclear power referendum of 1980: "I didn't vote because I didn't feel I was well-informed enough to vote".

     And then there's the Universal smarts fallacy.

     The most brilliant thing any high school science teacher said to me is, "I'd ask Dr. Wu, Ed. We've all got solid basics but he focused more on physics and that's a bit more complex than I'd be comfortable opining on." Most senior teacher there.
