      Cool, I just logged in to indieauth.com using my own domain and FreeOTP on my phone. (They say to use Google Authenticator, but that's proprietary these days.)

      @jrm Another option is if you are able to edit the metadata in the HTML header (the <head> tag). My site is static so it was easier :-)

      @jonkulp I think you can first log in normally, and then go to Settings > OpenID and link your new OpenID to your existing account. I'll test this right now... :-)

      @sazius yep Zotero is one of the reference managers I always introduce to my graduate students in the research and bibliography class I teach. One of the students this year really took to it, but the rest of them preferred MyEndnoteWeb. I like Zotero because it supports BibTeX and is free software. Has social features, plugins for LibreOffice etc.

      @jrm Heh, well, thanks :-) I know the English of my scientific field well, but outside of that I sometimes have problems. Like names of things in the kitchen, or animals etc :-)

      @jonkulp A colleague of mine has been suggesting Mendeley but I've resisted it since its proprietary. But Zotero looks perfect for me :-) BibTeX support is a must.

      @jonkulp whoops is Mendeley proprietary? I thought I installed it with an apt get command... I hardly ever use it but keep it in my list of reference managers so that my students have a choice

      @sazius by the way my student who liked Zotero so much also showed me an Android app where you can use your barcode scanner to scan the ISBN barcode on the back of a book and add it to your Zotero library. Pretty slick.

      @jonkulp @sazius Mendeley desktop is really nice. I have not had it installed for a while but I just reinstalled using the .deb package from their website and it works great. Too bad it's not FOSS.

      @jonkulp Basically just a huge BibTeX file, then I pasted the references into my document until I had time to write the section :-) I collected some PDFs in a folder, but I usually ended up searching them again online instead of digging in my folder :-)

      @jonkulp correct. Our research group maintains a common .bib file with references (in CVS, gasp!). If I'm referring to something that we've referred to before I can just use it from there.

      @jonkulp Yeah, but it's completely unstructured. Also I'd like to keep the PDFs too etc. So I've been looking for some organising app. I'll take a look at Zotero and JabRef when I get back to work.

      I got the bad token page as well, then it worked. Not sure why :-) You can use FreeOTP instead of Google Authenticator.

      @benfell it wasn't mentioned as an option but it's a free software equivalent of Google authenticator (implements same protocol), I tried and it works with IndieAuth. Available in the F-droid store.
