   Building my new server on Linode and have hit a conundrum. I’m most used to using Arch Linux, but I want to use iredmail, which doesn’t support Arch. It does support Gentoo and Ubuntu. Linode has an old Gentoo kernel available, but appears to be deprecating support for Gentoo. Ubuntu is my least favorite option.

     @theru that’s what I ended up doing, especially since these new server is me only and 1 domain only so I just did postfix/sasl/dovecot and will have mail delivered to the user account.

     @mk I can whip up a system on Arch, Gentoo, or a couple of BSD’s. Debian just makes no sense to me.

     @lnxw48 There are some pretty good tutorials at using a custom distro/kernel on Linode. Basically you creat a small boot partition so the Linode tools are there and a large partition with your preferred distro/kernel.
