@sungo Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with many film critics personally, but game and film creators who blame the critics for poor works that don't sell seems quite stupid, frankly.

@sungo In games review, just to pivot to the thing what I actually do for a day job, I ask a few questions:
A: Does it work properly on the platform, ie is it technically competent
B: Is it it what the audience for this game would want? Why or why not? Is that reason a valid one?
C: Is it worth the asking price?
D: Does it achieve what it set out to do?
There is plenty of room for "popcorn" games and films. Just as there is plenty of room of niche or "arthouse" games and films. They are not mutually-exclusive and it is not a zero-sum game. But there is a such thing as "good" kitsch films and games, and "bad" ones.
