@sulman I wrote that at midnight, how could I forget Slackware!

If something ever happens to Void Linux, my options are GuixSD, Funtoo or... well, Devuan.
-
@hfaust I personally don't see any issues in having systemd as an option - more options is always a good thing, even if I don't agree with some of them.

@hfaust @wakarimasen
What is even wrong with systemd?
-
@dtluna @wakarimasen As a tool, I don't have a problem with it. I choose not to use it because I have no scenario where it would be useful or that cannot be done with other tools. I disagree with the way systemd is being developed and I prefer to support other things.
-
@dtluna @hfaust It is pretty much non-portable while at the same time rapidly replacing more and more vital parts of the user space, resulting in more software depending on systemd, resulting in less portable software in general. Add some questionable development decisions as well as the fact that development mostly happens at Red Hat, and you can see why it makes sense to think that the increasing dependency on systemd is a bad thing.

@hfaust @sulman There's also Manjaro OpenRC, apparently.

@hfaust @dtluna @wakarimasen The systemd revolution is a chance to promote supervisor inits like runit and s6, just like Vista was a chance to promote the GNU/Linux desktop.

@hfaust @sulman PCLinuxOS Mate, don't know about the main distribution ... and it's not clear if it's a choice or if they're just behind.
