I just saw Iron Man 3 (Yeah, I know, right? It's from 4 years ago.) and I loved it. It's just 100% nerd porn and Stark snark.
Now I want to see Guardians of the Galaxy II, they've got like half of the Expendables in there. Shit is going to explode non-stop for two hours. In theaters in May!

@clacke What about "John Wick" ?
-
@sonyam No idea. Is that Tom Cruise?
*checks*
It's got Dafoe? Still don't know what the movie is about, but I'm in.
-
@sonyam Micke Nyqvist and Keanu. This cast is weird. :-)
-
@sonyam Hitman comes out of retirement to retire some people that did something in the past. Sounds like boring noir, but I'll watch it for the actors.
-
@sonyam "The best way I can describe John Wick is to picture Taken but instead of Liam Neeson it's Keanu Reeves and instead of his daughter it's his dog."
That's the *positive* review.
-
@sonyam There had better be at least one penis joke on his last name, or I'm declaring the whole movie a failure.
-
@sonyam
$ grep -i your.*wick "John Wick (2014).WEB-DL.English.C.orig.Addic7ed.com.srt"
Nothing.
The movie is a failure. I'll put it on the list anyway, but not at the top spot.

@clacke I see only now (or probably I remember only now) that your social profile uses pump.io What is the difference and the integration with GNU Social?
-
@sonyam No integration. Just that on my pump profile I put my GS profile as my "home page" in the user info and vice versa, to show everyone that I'm bisocial.
-
@sonyam pump.io has a few things that GS doesn't, and in the process lost several things that GS has.
First of all, the implementation has the ability to run on much less resources than GS, which saved identi.ca, although some would say that saving it killed it.
-
@sonyam Well, who isn't, I just never found the right guy before finding several right ladies and finally marrying one. Måns Zelmerlöw is a hottie, though. And, sure, McDowney.
-
@clacke @sonyam I'm not even sure I believe this. Mastodon ostatus data is, like, 50% size of GS ostatus data...
-
@sonyam @clacke I hope we can te-unite the federations once pump speaks activitypub and pleroma speaks ostatus and AP...
-
@lambadalambda @clacke my idea is always that all members need to host their data on local or cloud, one server for each user
-
@sonyam pump.io has private messaging, followers-only posting, federated identity so you can run around on other servers and comment using your home id, the API is lightweight and very consistent and understandable in comparison with GS+Qvitter (I hear), and it's the basis for the Next Big Thing, #activitypub.
pump.io was built in a few months by one guy though, and GS was built in a couple of years by several full-time people, so there are still quirks in the (actually intentionally) limited web UI. pump.io works best with a client.
@andstatus does a decent job. I'm not going to complain, because I still didn't file those bugs since last I complained, so the buck is with me. It's mostly about message formatting, other than that it's an awesome client for both GS and pump.
-
@lambadalambda @sonyam It's a proven fact straight from the horse's server infrastructure. Note that I said the implementation, not that it's innate in the protocol.
-
@lambadalambda @sonyam That's the dream we're all reaching for, baby!
-
@sonyam @lambadalambda I think you're always gonna need supernodes, or you're losing the casual users. A leaf node needs to be able to drop out of internet and still not miss out. In particular two users need to be able to never be online at the same time, yet still see all of each other's messages.
-
@clacke @lambadalambda and what happened to Opera Unite?
https://www.wired.com/2009/10/opera_unite_puts_the_web_server_in_your_web_browser/
-
To some degree, holding undelivered messages for some pre-set time period and periodically re-trying relieves the need for supernodes, but it doesn't stop the need for public nodes. Not everyone will host their own.
-
@sonyam @lambadalambda I guess Opera Unite came before its time. It was an awesome idea, but we didn't have enough and deeply entrenched enough silos to defend ourselves against.
-
@lnxw48a1 Who will do the retrying when I'm sleeping and you wake up and nobody else is following us? Maybe an extreme case, but extreme cases are important. Someone needs to relay messages they're not personally interested in.
-
@clacke @lnxw48a1 Improving the interconnectedness of the federation is one of my big long-term goals with postActiv, because the more resilient the network, the better it is for everyone involved, and people shouldn't have to understand all the various eccintricities of federation to participate in the Fediverse.
-
@clacke To my knowledge, neither #Pump.io nor #GNU_social currently rely upon third party relays to federate messages. This feature is a recent addition to #Diaspora, so it is not inconceivable that other networks might adopt it.
-
@lnxw48a1 The third party in pump and GS is your home server, which is always online.
-
I liked "John Wick" well enough; it was a recommendation by #OneSon, who has impeccable cinematic tastes.
-
!OStatus needs #SourceRouting for resiliency.
