Osaka Castle under a blue sky, framed by the leafless branches of a tree. The low winter sun is hidden behind the spire of the castle. The castle is painted white and has many eaves in the style of Japanese buildings. It rests on a giant foundation of large, square-hewn boulders in the shape of the bottom half of a pyramid. It's very big and looks imposing.

   Time for a short introduction. I grew up in Germany, have been living in the San Francisco Bay Area for two decades and now for more than a year in Osaka, Japan.

   I program for a living and still can't believe people pay me for what I would probably be doing anyway.

   When I'm not in front of a computer, I'm most likely taking pictures out somewhere or sitting in a cafe reading a book.

   Expect the occasional nerd content here, in addition to me boosting a multitude of cat photos.
