A black and white daguerreotype of the Sun, which is mostly a featureless white disk on a black background. The exceptions are two little clusters of black sunspots near the bottom of the disk.

    The very first photograph of the sun was taken #OTD in 1845. It was a daguerreotype made with a 1/60 second exposure by the physicists Louis Fizeau and Léon Foucault.
