Since I'm now essentially "daring" myself to not look at my phone for as long as possible, that has come nearly effortlessly. It's a really big change for me, I can see this working for me now where in the past it never did - I used to just forget I was trying to do it after a day or two.
I guess what really works about it is that I've simultaneously made space/time and created a "hook" for a better habit (thanks @cblgh!)
