@MisterMaker I'm curious—where in Malaysia? At a guess, one of the Perhentian islands? (I lived in Malaysia for six years until this June; the Perhentians were the islands we went to for vacation that were only accessible by boat.)
I can't remember which of the perhentian islands it was that we'd go to. Looks like Redang island is fairly close, though—that's where my senior class in High School went for a retreat.
Any other destinations in Malaysia you have visited or are going to visit?
I kinda love the idea of a full OS running on a VPS or something somewhere and carrying around a low power laptop I can VNC into it from. No matter what device I’m using, I have all the same file, programs, and computing resources.
I will probably never do this but it’s fun to imagine daily driving a pinebook or something that is set up to do this with a powerful desktop computer through Tailscale.

@sotolf It doesn't say, but in High School you bring a personal one, and it's High Schoolers who take this quiz.
They might be seeing it as justified during class time, say if you close a file as a teacher walks by and they ask to see what you were doing to make sure you weren't doing something you weren't supposed to.
@sotolf Here's the relevant passage from the handbook:
"Understand that computers are an extension of the classroom and are monitored by teachers and administrators. You should not assume that anything you do on a computer is done in secret. As acting guardians, Dalat staff have an obligation to monitor your activity on the school networks and computers and may view computer files, as deemed appropriate by administration."
I assume it's only for school-related things, but it doesn't say that.
Someone used the "I don't have anything to hide" line on me today when discussing WhatsApp vs. Signal...
My main issue was that the line was irrelevant; she said she doesn't like Signal, but didn't provide reasoning.
She did mention her friends not using Signal, though, which I get. That's the only reason I still have WhatsApp; everybody over here in Malaysia uses it.
@floppy Also don't get me wrong; I use electron for my novel editor. Nuclear in particular, though, certainly doesn't justify their use well; I remember it using 10% of my CPU without even playing any audio. With mine, it's extremely minimal, and I'm hoping to transition to another platform once I have a stable framework worked out.
