@ajroach42 Debian should still be perfectly capable on a 32-bit machine, all packages available. It is "The Universal operating system" after all.

makeworld (makeworld@sunbeam.city)'s status on Saturday, 05-Feb-2022 05:50:55 UTC makeworld @dzuk how would they be unavoidable though? I will be staying away from charm's hosted services, but I don't see the issue with using their libraries. The worst that could happen with those is that they'd go proprietary or add some bad feature. Which would suck, but I could just fork. The libraries are really nice and useful as it stands now.
I expect they will make all their money for VCs from their (opensource) hosted backend services, which is no problem to me.

I prefer to only apply blockchain (without saying "technically") to projects that use cryptocurrency. There are too many negative connotations.
Mastodon is definitely not a blockchain in any way.

makeworld (makeworld@sunbeam.city)'s status on Sunday, 02-Jan-2022 12:07:39 UTC makeworld Discord status messages have given me an idea for a new "social network", where's there's no posts, feeds or history. You can just see a status message and maybe an emotion of the people you follow. Maybe optional music platform integration, as well as just specifying an album or whatever you're listening to this week.
Thoughts? I feel like it's the opposite of doomscrolling, it's just a way to see how people are doing and maybe learn something new about your friends.

The main difference between this and finger is that this is structured data, while finger is just a text file. Structured data allows for different layout possibilities.
