qwazix (qwazix@cybre.space)'s status on Friday, 19-Jul-2019 15:16:31 UTC qwazix @Shutsumon @cwebber they come both from the Greek word αυθεντία which means expertise which in turn comes from the ancient αυθέντης (boss). Funny thing is that neither of their Modern Greek translations uses that root and they have quite different sound. Ταυτοποίηση (identification) and Εξουσιοδότηση (Giving power) are the words.
Disclaimer: some use αυθεντικοποίηση which is a "reverse" translation of authentication but this doesn't exist in most dictionaries.
