@pikesley Prediction: USB will continue to mutate until it can be used to charge an electric car
@spacemartwiz I do not under any circumstances want to hand it to the bitcoiners but base58 was a good idea

DAYS SINCE A PROGRAM FAILED TO COMPILE BECAUSE PASTED SAMPLE CODE HAD BEEN PASSED THROUGH A SYSTEM THAT TRANSFORMED QUOTES TO SMART QUOTES
There *has* been a lot of talk about the problems with so-called "AI" but one I don't feel gets enough attention is that "AI" products are surveillance products. "AI" is inevitably run in a cloud service, and in order for the AI to know what to generate some amount of the context within your application— usually it's not clear to the user what context, or how much— has to get sent to the cloud. The more of my local app state that gets transmitted over the Internet, the less comfortable I am.
@jeremywadhams I do think NAT broke the world, but NAT was already an established concept before ipv6 was ready.
@csilverman "Obviously a Tesla car is not going to allow you to drive to a Ford dealership"
Week 1: We will finally bring free speech to the Internet
Week 8: Linktree is illegal
Now given I am sure that if I posted this on Twitter I would have five people with grecoroman statue heads as avatars explaining that in order to protect free speech it is in fact logically necessary to ban Linktree
(I think sarcasm is a poor vehicle for speaking clearly about these matters so to be clear: The reason their actions don't seem to fit with "free speech" is because they never cared about "free speech". This isn't even "hypocrisy". It's just ordinary lying. Anyway congrats to Mr. Musk for finally doing something so batshit he got me to subtweet him on Mastodon, something I've been specifically trying not to do)
@clacke @stacked_automation I do actually. That's sufficient? Maybe I was confused what was being proposed.
1. would using workspaces require moving my src/main.rs to a subdirectory/src/main.rs?
2. where would the explicit overriding take place? environment variables?
i d… I don't control the submodule. I control the parent repo and I am including someone else's git repo as a submodule. Does that mean this idea no longer works?
@onelson I did not receive any answers.
Sometimes people tell me I have a knack for finding my way into unusually cursed problems.
Board of OpenAI fires Sam Altman and replaces him with a very small shell script
I don't think the strawberries and Camembert can be *combined*, exactly, but I'm imagining a scenario where they are eaten in immediate succession, and the thought is so decadent I'm legitimately worried the CIA is going to do a black-bag op into Canada just to stop me
@nev The American Federal Government has OPINIONS about MILK
@nev It is illegal. This is not a joke
