"We are spending tens or maybe hundreds of megawatts on producing something that has no tangible existence and no real use for humans outside the realm of financial speculation," Smári McCarthy, and Icelandic member of parliament told the AP. "That can't be good."
@clacke the 50/50 voting model is a good start. Ironically, democracy is often lacking in open source communities (mainly due to lack of democracy-enabling structures) and developers end up becoming "benevolent dictators". Embracing the #cooperative model would further improve the situation, in my opinion
The ultra-conservative Polish think tank Ordo Iuris (!) wants to inflict 3yrs of #prison to whoever travels abroad to do an #abortion. Poland's slow drift towards fascism seems unstoppable, but make no mistake: it wont' stop in Warsaw. The fascist plague is already spreading across all of Europe, and the time is ticking out...
“Nothing is more anarchic than power. Power does what it wants” - Pier Paolo Pasolini
This quote shines a light on the way #anarchy is percieved as a free-for-all system. Which it is not: the lack of a government does not imply the lack of customs and rules. What it implies is those rules are NOT enforced top-down but horizontally. When a set of customs is shared and agreed on by a whole community, the state dissolves becuase the community itself becomes the state #MondayAnarchy#AnarchyMonday
I just realized that we've come full circle: anti-vaxxers, chemtrailers, flat-earthers... all these movements are modern-day variants what Le Goff defines as "magical" or "symbolic" thinking: everything in this planeis considered as an expression of something on a higher plane (the spiritual plane in the middle ages, "deep state, "big pharma" or others nowadays), which leads to a paranoid over-analysis of even the tiniest details in a constant desire to understand "what lingers in the dark"
@paulfree14 the proposed law is meant to allow the minister of justice to single-handedly appoint judges of the supreme court, thus ending the separation of powers in Poland.
@jd yeah that's the saddest part... so many people put at risk by poor IT choices. Quite ironically, a group of volunteers has been developing an NHS-specific ubuntu flavour that, if used instead of windows, could have saved NHS all the trouble: https://www.nhsbuntu.org/
