our interviews vary pretty wildly depending on who is on. Our most popular show ever was actually on the Lawcast, when we spook to CC Korea: http://www.musicmanumit.com/2012/07/5-discussion-with-creative-commons-korea.html -- the statement I posted there I think was just about the Lawcast. Not sure. The Cloudkicker interview was pretty popular too. I haven't looked at the stats in a long time though. I've been too busy with blocSonic and other stuff.
reminds me of when my brother and I were in South Africa for the World Cup. My brother was wearing a Mexico t-shirt (long story) and some dude start speaking to him in Spanish. He quickly says "no hablo Espanol". Which, of course, is true, but also a paradox. Anyway, the best part is, the dude start speaking English in a very US accent. Turns out he was from Brooklyn and just saw the Mexico shirt.
it's not like I follow religiously. They aren't exactly broadcasting a lot of games. I watched all their Champions League matches though, because I figure, who the hell knows when this might happen again.
no, they can't. It's possible anything released after their experiment is not CC BY-NC-SA. I did know STIM was Sweden. I don't speak Swedish, mostly because I didn't learn it when I visited and none of my family over here actually speaks it, but my mom's side of the family is Swedish. I'm a #MFF supporter, fwiw.
if you want to know more about US Antitrust law, speak with http://gurdonark.blogspot.com/ (he's on twitter, soundcloud, ccmixter, FMA, and presumably other places). We've had him on Music Manumit a couple of times. He's going to be back on in July.
most of the time, when ASCAP and BMI come up on the show, it is not a positive review, but I do know some people are like "I get checks, it's just not a lot" which I guess is more of a shrug than really a negative review.
I think right now we are only doing US distribution, but dealing with international issues is certainly on the to-do list. I'll put GEMA and SUISA on the list. There are a lot of ways we could deal with it. Some would be on the site and some would be via contract. All are messy, but that's the world we live in, unfortunately. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Unfortunately, he uses ND, so he is not eligible for Music Manumit to spend some time talking about it there.
the Nine Inch Nails albums are all BY-NC-SA, FWIW. I'd have to go back and look at the details, but I think you can always exclude an album from revenue (which would allow for BY, BY-SA, BY-ND)
