I am watching, with great interest, at my neighbour's formerly pristine, blue swimming pool turning into an interesting ecological experiment. It is probably creating mutant lifeforms as we speak, and I have a feeling they will take over the world. 🖖

In Malaysia, we don't even mind it if white people wear our traditional costumes. We find it endearing. As long as you do it with respect and not make it obscene.
Another problem I see is when US foks expect the world to share their point of view. Just don't expect us to be as outraged or to be like you when it comes to certain issues. Just realise that people really do think differently in different cultures.

@reke there was one time when someone accused a person in a Malaysian trad costume of cultural appropriation and all the Malaysians told that person to shut up and "don't bring that American nonsense here". It was funny to watch ngl 😆

I know cultural appropriation is a biggie in the #UnitedStates
But as a person who comes from a country where people happily culturally appropriates from each other, and who descended from who people who culturally appropriated & married into British, Chinese and Malay culture ... I never understood the rage around it in the US.
A quick reminder that the world may look at some issues very differently :)
