THREDDY 2022 YEAR IN REVIEW!
I went back through the 66 comics I created in 2022 and picked some highlights. I grouped them into 6 subjects.
Let's get started! β¬οΈ
At number 6:
"Introductions"
After several years of there being only Threddy and Freddy in the comics, in 2022 I introduced two new characters - Sam the Security Cat, and Bee.
At number 4:
"Meetings"
This is a comic about the workplace, and what's more common in the workplace than meetings?
At number 5:
"Data"
At work I spend a *lot* of time with data - querying, analyzing, driving action. Data is a common subject in the comics.
At number 2:
"Mastodon Beginnings"
As I started drifting away from Twitter, I found a lovely platform in Mastodon. And I encountered (and observed) all of the typical rookie mistakes. I couldn't *not* make comics about these.
At number 3:
"Twitter Meltdown"
My aim is to focus on workplace satire with the comics, but sometimes current events are too large to ignore. This was true of the Twitter situation in the latter half of 2022.
And at number 1:
"Jargon Jar"
I love this comic for so many reasons and I consider it to be a milestone in the series.
This concept took shape as a set of tweets several years ago. I was *so* glad that I could finally capture it in comic form.
It was also fully drawn (no photo background), which is a technique I'll be using in the future.
This is my favorite of the year! All around a great effort that I'm proud of.
That concludes the Threddy 2022 Year in Review!
I'm really proud of the comic this year. And I've started working on new techniques and ideas for 2023 that I'm thrilled about. I cannot wait to get started on them.
As the year closes, I'd like to wish everyone happiness and health!
See you in 2023!
Power Outage.
Feels like every day there is news of yet more layoffs in the industry. Things seem pretty brutal out there right now. I haven't been impacted (hugs to anyone that has) but I'm spending more brain cycles on this than I care to admit.
@zkat congrats on the kid! and yeah I totally understand the panic part. This weekend I was talking with a friend, and his kid was born the day before the 2008 layoffs. It was his first year. Talk about panic. Luckily he wasn't impacted and is still with the company today.
not exactly stressing yet, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't pondering the question "what's my backup plan if I get laid off?"
@pharaohkatt omg, I was not aware!
Asks.
I might have cried at the end of it.
Matilda the Musical is so dang good.
