@mcnees In re the supplied alt-text: What she's 'pulling out' is printed or punched tape, which is that computer's output form, to read results of whatever was programmed into it. I don't know enough about computers of this kind to give a better explanation, but I'm certain that what she's holding is computer tape, and most likely reading output information (or pretending to for the photo).

WesDym (wesdym@mastodon.social)'s status on Monday, 09-Jan-2023 01:07:35 UTC WesDym @mcnees This makes a little more sense to me (as much as any such thing could make ANY sense) after watching Dan Olson's lengthy but very detailed and insightful "In Search of a Flat Earth", which explores this phenomenon deeply. A large part of the flat earth movement is not interested in objective reality, but in the power to define SUBJECTIVE reality, by force of will. In that mindset, someone who proves you wrong is either wrong themselves, or should be destroyed. It really that horrifying.
