@pirboazo it's not "just cosmetic" since it includes important server updates. But even if it was: in our view visible changes is what affects people most and what they notice + this release paves the way for more important changes to come, including to the release cycle itself (to be written up soon in a blog post)

It's unclear whether the AdGuard devs intended for this effect, but there are much better, safer ways to block ads.

It tries to simulate some malicious behaviour, and aborts loading if that simulation is not blocked by some other security features we've enabled.

If you are using this extension we recommend uninstalling it immediately and replacing it with another reputable adblocker like uBlock Origin or uMatrix.
