    I saw some photos of the Caldor fire in #NorCal and #NV near Lake Tahoe. That looks really bad.

    There was a couple of tall plumes of smoke showing above the mountains yesterday. Based on the distance, there are a couple of different mountain ranges that could be burning.

    So we get some smoke from the #NorCal fires and some smoke from the #SoCal fires.

    Maybe the storm in the Gulf of California ( #TropStorm #Nora ) will stay a little West and give us some rainfall.

    Here in the !SoCal desert, we have poor air quality because of #NorCal fires.

    (That should probably be deserts, as there are multiple deserts here, with very different characteristics. For instance, the Mojave Desert to the North is mostly High Desert and Intermediate desert. The Colorado Desert to the South is mostly Low Desert, including the Imperial and Coachella valleys.)

    My most recent assignment (in #NorCal #Sac) ended 2019-11-15. I drove back to #SoCal the next day, a year ago today.

    That's the reason we're shuffling things like buying children's clothing to various family members and cancelling family trips.

    I think Gov Newsom cancelling the high speed rail line was a dumb move. Imagine travelling from #NorCal to #SoCal in two to three hours instead of eight to ten hours. Even if governor.next restarts to program, it will take years and millions or even billions of dollars to make the abandoned infrastructure usable again.

    Today is overcast and still staying cooler than it has been. Currently 82F / 28C, with an expected peak of 90F / 32C. There could be a few small traces of smoke left, but I think this is mostly real clouds.

    No smoky smell, nearby hills visible (I haven't looked toward the mountains a little further off).

    In #NorCal, Butte County (where the town of Paradise was destroyed by fire 2-3 years back) is burning again and several people are dead or missing.
