An oasis of calm in the city. This is the River Kelvin as it runs through Partick in Glasgow. Amongst the trees in the background is the old Bishop's Mill, which was built in 1839. I think the small falls on the left mark the point at which the Kelvin becomes tidal before entering the Clyde a short distance further downstream.
Everything in this image of the Eagle Nebula is invisible to the human eye. JWST shows the infrared glow of warm gas & dust. Chandra shows x-rays blasting from active young stars. Our technology brings the invisible universe into view. https://chandra.harvard.edu/photo/2023/chandrawebb2/#perspective#nature
We frequently have these wild strawberries growing exactly where they aren't wanted, particularly along gravel paths. They are such lovely plants I hate to disturb them.
If I remember I will photograph them again in late June or July when the fruit ripens.
One autumn weekend I decided to put my new tent in use. Packed my gear and drove to a nearby coastal nature reserve. After the well slept night I woke up to enjoy my morning coffee watching this view. Good times! #nature#photography#photo#sunrise
The tiger beetles are among the top predators among insects. This one had caught a black ant. Only later I noticed that the front part of the ant had a great view to watch her abdomen being eaten by the beetle. Brutal! #photo#photography#nature#insects
@louis yes, tthat's clearer for identification. Odd place foroa Kingfisher though - is there water nearby? No, not really a birdwatcher (any more) but I still love to observe birds (and have learned what to look for for identification). :) !nature
Yay hurray for !nature: cleaning up fallen leaves in my garden I found already a few tiny #sprouts on the #bulbs I planted late last summer. :D Hope they don't freeze: cold weather is on the way.
