I have begun a post explaining this situation in a more detailed writeup. This is updating in realtime, and there is a lot still missing.
A #Linux user and a #FreeBSD user walk into a bar. The Linux user loudly proclaims, "My distro is the best!" The FreeBSD user smiles quietly, sips their drink, and thinks, “They just don't know what they're missing.”
Someone from the back yells it is GNU/Linux.
If you ever feel like your life has no purpose, just remember that there's someone at Microsoft whose job is to make sure Microsoft Edge works on #Linux.

A bunch of comments requested an explanation on #Linux graphics drivers, so I decided to take a look at the topic, and explain Mesa, kernel drivers, the Nvidia drivers (Nouveau, NVK, the official #opensource modules, and the proprietary driver), as well as AMD drivers (with RadeonSI, RADV, AMDVLK and AMDGPU, plus AMDGPU-Pro), and Intel drivers (with i915, i965, ANV and the new Xe driver).
I hope it helps make things a bit clearer!

If you’ve ever navigated any form of forum or online community focused on #Linux, you probably saw someone mentioning #SystemD as either an advantage, or, more likely, a problem. While it’s used by virtually every major Linux distro, it seems like there’s a strong core of people who dislike this system,so I thought I’d give a look at what systemd is, and at why some people seem to really hate it:

Unsolicited anecdote: I had to scan some documents at a friend's place lately, which on Windows meant installing a ginormous "driver" for the HP OfficeJet. When on top of that it required me to create an account first, I ditched it.
In the end it didn't take much more time to get it working on Fedora #Linux without that bloatware, so I happily took the effort.
Incredible how much #enshittification happened to HP products.
