#sonOne is happy to be able to get #GD2 vaccinated.
I just thought about it, but I don't know whether her older siblings #GS1 and #GS2 are vaccinated. It may be that only one ( #GD1 ) out of 9 grandkids is currently vaccinated.
And #GS3’s shipment of books and art stuff arrived. #GS4 had a couple of things in there also, but I forgot to get anything for my granddoggy.
The two year old was holding a Captain Underpants book and waiting for #sonTwo to read it to him.
Since the CU and Dog Man books are not toddler resistant, 2nd son said he was going to keep them away from GS3 and just bring them out when it is time to read.
(GS3 saw me showing his dad some books I bought for his cousin A1 … got excited about incoming books … so Grandpa bought him some of the same books. [And I also got many of the same books for cousin #GD2] … the under 13 crowd will have lots of fun with these stories.)
When her brother #GS2 was this age (9) or a little older, I had suggested something similar, but it never happened. I’m glad to see this happening with this amazing little girl.
@clacke I don't know if you already have it, but I found "Dog Man Guide to Creating Comics in 3-D" at the store.
My granddaughter #GD2 will receive this, "Cat Kid Comic Club" and 10 Dog Man books as part of her shipment this week.
I notice that most of these books' titles are based on the name of a classic "school forced me to read this" book. Are these kid-friendly adaptations of the greats, like the Wishbone books were?
#sonTwo enjoyed Wishbone's "Be A Wolf" so much that he voluntarily read "Beowulf" afterward.
Since the books came from the 8-13 section and she's only 9, I alerted #sonOne that he may wish to look them over first to be sure none are too mature for her.
However, they don’t have ‘A Tale of Two Kitties’ or ‘Dog Man and Cat Kid’ in stock. Those are the two Dog Man books I’m missing for #GD2.
I still do not have a list of which books #A1 already has, so he’s going to have to wait. #Daddy_A is still too worried about the medical issue to either get me a list himself or hand the phone to his son and say “take photos of the book covers” and then send them to me.
Meanwhile, #sonTwo has committed to read them to #GS3 if I send them. Which means he’s likely to get some of the books.
Me, laughing: He's part of the leftish group that has always opposed such things. I expect he'll end up doing that, but it will happen at the last minute.
#GD2’s school is still giving them the option of remote learning, but #GD1’s school is not … and not enforcing masking and not upgrading the ventilation system to help remove microbes and viruses. As the younger daughter is too young to be vaccinated, he is not desirous of having the older daughter bring #COVID-19 home and infect her sister.
The disease itself is supposed to be milder with most younger patients, but there are reports of pretty serious post-COVID symptoms among under-10s.
I normally have one with #sonOne and #GD1 and #GD2 (on rare occasions daughter-in-law pops in for a few minutes) Sunday afternoons, but recently, his work schedule has interfered.
I normally have them Fridays and Sundays with #sonTwo and #GS3 and #GS4 (sometimes daughter-in-law, but she's often busy), but we missed tonight's session.
Sessions with #Daddy_A, #A1, #A2, and #A3 are infrequent, and he often has device issues that prevent it. (That is, his iPhone and iPad don't display notifications or make sounds ... he even took the phone in for service; they couldn't correct it, so they replaced it.)
The books were in the 8-13 section at Target, but the kids are 8 and 9, so I wanted to be sure the books weren’t too mature for the kids.
Also got two “Baby-sitters Club” graphic novels (also 8-13, so same notice to #sonOne) and two “Captain Underpants” (no need for a notice, #Daddy_A used read those himself).
It is amazing how much #GS3 likes books and reading with the adults in his life. His dad was much older when he discovered that reading was enjoyable. He's at the stage where he wants to read the same books over and over until he can recite most of it along with you.
Likewise, #A1 and #GD2 both really like books. I noticed that Target has several Captain Underpants and Dog Man books (but for some reason, the Dog Man books do not say which one is book 1, book 2, etc). I'm going to plan on buying them each several books in those series.
@clacke Thanks for that info. #A1 asked me for more Dog Man and Captain Underpants books, so I asked #Daddy_A to get me a list of which ones he already has.
