Fucking facebook is sending legal threats already on my domain. Well those of you who mentioned that where right. I wont deal with that. Ill find a new domain and move the server this week. Then make a new permanent home for it. Ill take down the server on its current domain now.
- @mcscx@quitter.se likes this.

@thomask no, and the problem is that there is not much to do either. they can do what ever, I can do little.

@stigatle in sweden our public service have taken to saying 'sociala nätverk', which means social media, for not being blatant about their advertising for facebook and twitter. I have been thinking that it would be a good name for a site.
-
@mikael yeah, I was also thinking about that on my way to work now. we also use that type of name. I want to find something generic that could provide many services under subdomains. Ill check some domains later today and buy one and get started on the migration.
I just arrived at the office, so first 7.5hrs of coding and 3d :)

@harald I'll write a blogpost on my site https://stigatle.no later this week, I'll write what I feel about it all, and a copy of the email and all that.
I know 'man in the street' can't do anything about it, and I do not have 100.000usd to pay for a potential fine either, but I can at least publish what I think about it all.
I kinda expected it to happen, but I honestly did not think they would bother, but apparently they do. And it leaves you with only one option - move the site. Because your apparently risk everything if you do not. 100.000 usd is nothing for them in a trail, they don't care, they just care about making their money (obviously) with nothing being spared.
-
@harald It was still worth the 100 nok for the domain while it lasted. Also it inspired me to get diaspora set up and working, which I've wanted to do for a long while. And it seems moving it is fairly easy.

@stigatle You should redesign the site as a "facebook alternative" for schools/universities that sells a service for graduate pictures (of fingerprints or something else, alternatives to face recognition based graduate books). And if Facebook really wants you to close it down they should pay whatever expenses you lose due to the shutdown (i.e. domain name).

@1g0r @thomask hehe, Apparently not :) , but at I gave it a shot. I find it better then to talk about it and never try to do anything. The positive outcome here is that at least people are talking about it, friends are laughing, people at work find it funny and understand why it's annoying, and they think about facebook differently. So even though they do this - it was still worth it because it change something, rather then nothing.
And also I found the motivation to install diaspora and get that up and running :)
-
@thomask I'll get that new domain soon (I'll figure something out today), I think the accounts will migrate as well, so that you can use it on the new domain if you wish. I'll let you know when I'm done.( might take a day or two).
-
@draven I know, but I do not have the energy\time to do that.
Also it's just like shooting sparrows with a cannon what they do, and yeah, it's effective.

@mikael @stigatle Like Coop-style naming, the towel "towel"? socialanätverket.se ?
-
