"History lessons for wireless networks" (exactly only! 14 years ago) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/2175804.stm - when 'wireless' was new and exciting, and unsure of its future ;-) Some interesting-looking related links in the sidebar, too #history -
Temporary Marjolein (mk@oracle.skilledtests.com)'s status on Sunday, 07-Aug-2016 10:48:10 UTC Temporary Marjolein @kat interesting - that sounds a lot like a system called "Kermit" (the name was later dropped according to Wikipedia, then called 'Geenpoint") that was - I think - the first 'mobile phone' network. You had to be within range of a base station to use it, but in the railway station near my (then) job there was one. It was a Cordless Telephone type 2 (CT2)-systeem as well, based on the ETSI-standard I-ETS 300 131. https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenpoint_%28telefoonnetwerk%29 (try running that through Google translate if you're interested). Looking at the wikipedia page you cite, I actually remember the logo! -
