No wifi right?
-
@theru @mikael has also been talking warmly about these things. Is there a neat OpenWrt-style configuration web interface available somewhere or should one just install OpenWrt for that?
-
@inscius 802.11ac is the current defacto standard for 5GHz band wifi, which allows for higher bandwidth but shorter reach than 2.4GHz.
The consequence/benefit is primarily that you'll have a less noisy wireless environments due to neighbours' setups being stopped more easily by walls.

@se7en I have ethernet to all machines with an ethernet port. However, I prefer to be able to use my mobile unit(s) as well without cellular networking.
-
@se7en I only use cellular networking when I actively choose to be online outside of a wifi network. I only activate my phonecall-enabled cellphone a few times a week to see if someone's tried to send me messages in a legacy way. So I think I'm already ahead of the curve there and these links are unlikely to impose any change to my behaviour as I am already aware of their points .)

@se7en Landline is irrelevant since I don't use (more than the few-times-per-week-check) the dictatorship supporting phone network. (Telia, >50% publicly owned) who afaik owns majority of the telephone network in Sweden) helps Belarus track dissidents and bribes Azerbaijan officials and whatnot)
I have a Jolla, so I run GNU/Linux on that making it much more of a generic computer than a PDA/phone.
