@hannes2peer Capitalism is what's wrong with OWS/moxie's strategy. There, I said it.
-
@hfaust Yeah, fuck 'em.

@hfaust No, it's all just bullshit. Who cares if it's a "competitive" messenger if it's just shit?
I especially disagree about the part where they essentially say that "everyone must have the exact same client support" (like audio/video chat etc.). My preferred XMPP client is irssi through bitlbee, I don't _want_ audio/video functionality - I don't care that someone who wants to call me can't do it because I wouldn't answer anyway.
»The implications of that are severe, because someone's choice to use an XMPP client or server that doesn't support video or some other arbitrary feature doesn't only effect them, it effects everyone who tries to communicate with them. It creates a climate of uncertainty, never knowing whether things will work or not.»
That's about the stupidest thing I've ever read from someone like Moxie. What does he call _users_ if not uncertain? If I don't answer the call someone makes - how is that any different from not being able to accept it?!

@hfaust furthermore: "Nobody really wants to run their own servers" <- EXCEPT THOSE THAT DO (like those who actually have something to protect)
