Bernie Sanders isn't a fucking #Socialist. He's a centrist, he just seems insanely #Left by American standards because it's economy has essentially reflected a #Capitalist #Oligarchy since the early 1900s.

@psychonot is right that Sanders is a centrist. According to the political compass, he's a couple notches left of center, but basically yes, nothing he's saying would have been out of the ordinary when I was growing up.
When you speak of a "free market," you should define whom it would be "free" for. And if you imagine it would be "free" for everyone, you should explain how it can possibly be so given any inequality in the ability of any participant to say no. If you claim that capitalism does not equal "free markets" then you need also to define what you mean by capitalism.
@taknamay the only definition I've found for socialism involves centralized authority. I found it in Hayek, who makes pretty clear what he wants to avoid. No, I certainly never saw this properly explained in school.

@taknamay I'm pretty sure we can have a technological society under a non-profit driven governing system. It won't move or develop as fast, because we can't abuse people as we do today. But then again, what _actual_ development have we seen the last decade or two? Nothing particularly revolutionary.
Over time perhaps we could learn how to have a fast-paced technological development without ignoring human rights issues. I would hope so anyway, but until then I'd be perfectly happy with a slower pace. I mean, what's the rush?
The only rush we have today is that society as we know it will collapse _because_ of the fast moving development without any regards to the environment or anything else.
