One of the firm rules of humanity is that a social media group making fun of incorrect pedantry will add even more incorrect pedantry, if not already in the post, then for sure in the comments.
I unironically love it and enjoy it, all levels of it.

The correct pedantry correcting the incorrect pedantry will often teach me something new too!
And the more there is of the incorrect pedantry, the more there will be of the correct pedantry, especially when someone starts doubling down on the incorrection.
@clacke
Did you hear how the pedant died?
He fell down a Well, actually...
@clacke There's pedantry about table salt?
@mansr Oh there's pedantry about everything, are you kidding? π€£
This time it was someone on one social network seeing "Salt Lite" with 50% less sodium and being sarcastic about "pure sodium" having less sodium, someone on the other social network was sarcastic about that person thinking table salt is pure sodium, and then a whole comment thread of people getting hung up on details of how the two posters said it, weird misconceptions of how sodiim chloride works, of how table salt works, ...
@mansr But people incorrectly correcting people, and other people correctly or incorrectly correcting those people is super educational!
If you asked me a week ago how table salt is iodized, I would have guessed you probably add sodium iodide, but it turns out various manufacturers of table salt add either or several of sodium iodide, potassium iodide, sodium iodate or potassium iodate!
@clacke Oh, chemistry pedantry. I was hoping for some ridiculous etiquette pedantry about the proper way to hold a salt shaker.
