   I keep talking to people telling me that ChatGPT helps them deal with their writing block, and that they use it all the time for mundane tasks like writing emails. It is not my place to judge anybody’s subjective experience, but if that’s really the case, then what we need is a better education, that will make people comfortable with writing, not an #AI that will write platitudes on their behalf.

     People have been fighting for #literacy for the last 150 years. I remember my great-grandmother struggling to write her name and the 10 digits (which she needed to play the lottery). My father was taken away from school when he was 13 and still finds writing letters very hard, being unsure about his grammar. I am the first in my close family to be fully happy with writing. And just when we are getting there, you want to be giving this wonderful human skill to a statistical, uncreative machine?
