1. A schematic representation of the path integral formulation of a quantum mechanical theory including the effects of gravity, electromagnetism, QED and QCD, matter, the Higgs field, and even dark matter. In this sort of variational formulation, symmetries directly lead to conserved quantities via Noether's theorem. So, while names of prominent scientists are attached to different parts of the expression to represent a specific discovery or formulation, Noether's name appears underneath the whole thing to emphasize how her insights underlie our understanding.
