@jens Please realize that what constitutes good UX can be highly specific to target audiences. What's good UX for tech-affine people is commonly horrible UX for average people and vice-versa.
Discord has good UX for people who have no idea what's going on in the background and no interest in finding out either.

@phryk That I can agree with especially because of the aggressive focus on a platform over a protocol
@jalcine Discord combines a forum-like structure with realtime communication with a bunch of "rich web" features like structured references to posts and does it all with pretty good UX including close to zero hassle to join a community.
Absolutely not a fan, but don't know any FOSS that could completely substitute it.
